Alley Cats, Tigers and Retalia

Received this wonderful mailing from Mailart Martha.  The images are posted in a random order, although as it's elevenses the banana biscuits seemed key.

A while ago I aksed Martha if she wanted to exchange boekies with Kevin Gillen and me. I sent Kevin and Martha boekies.  I got this haiku back from Martha.  From her comments I suspect Kevin's boekie is yet to arrive, as I have not had anything from him yet. I am so slow responding to everything and have a backlog of blogging so when it does arrive, and I know it will,  it will be exactly the right time.

Beautiful book. AM yearning for spring today!

I missed this in Privte Eye.  Patrick, our Private Eye devotee, often shares things that he knows I will laugh at, and this was certainly a good one! How could he fail to entertain me?
And to put everything in context, Martha had wrapped her enclosures in the above shopping Trolley gallery info sheet.  (Martha used to actually have a trolley with Mail art that she took around). I love the word 'foldilope' too!

Thank you, Martha!

Autoumn Haiku

Mailart Martha continues to be a faithful correspondent and even though whe was busy in the run-up to Christmas, she also humoured me! I am very grateful to have her beautiful haiku boekie to add to my collection!

The Boekie was wrapped in what I recognise as stickers from Keith Chambers that accompanied his/our collaborative Exquisite Corpse Cut Up.  Below, Martha tells me she used her face in a painting programme and added the glasses later. I love the outcome!

Thanks martha, I sent a boekie to the other person in our chain and included a copy of yours. I will send you something soon.

backlog blog

I am posting this image so those of you who sent me mail will know I have received it and am waiting to open it, to spend some quality time with it and hopefully be inspired to reply fulsomely! The thing is, my mum is visiting from America from Saturday and I have some work to do to get this place ship-shape before she arrives so even though I WANT to open your mailart I am holding off until I can do it justice.  My mum hasn't been to England in two Covid years.

Stay tuned.  Once she arrives I should have some more time. AND thank you. Cascadia Artpost, David Stafford, Mailart Martha, Amalgamated Confusion, Mikel Untzilla, Herman Kamphuis, Sticker Dude, Tofu, (I'm wearing a mask) and The Sticker Dude!

Mail Art Martha's Observations on a French Beach

I feel as if I've been on holiday with Mailart Martha after reading her (soon to be classic, but don't worry I won't flog it on ebay) wonderful small press title, Quick Sketches by the Sea: Collioure. Sept 2014.

The format of the boekie is one of those ingenious folded A4 zines. Great story, great edges, great characters!  This was a quick reply from Martha who has just back from her travels. Many thanks Mailart martha.  I will be bringing this into school with me to inspire the kiddies!  It certainly inspires me!

UK mail art meetup beneficiary!

I missed the latest mail art meetup in London, again. Sue (Stripygoose), Mail art Martha and Bris Chris met and made postcards.  I received one of the five!   Many thanks.

Mail art from Mailart Martha

Received these from Martha when my scanner/printer was on the fritz, hence the photo.  Martha talks about the weather in England not being so spectacular.  That's the great thing about the weather... it changes and to be honest I can't remember anything but the long sunny days and barbeques at the top of the field now.

Martha went to St Ives and says it was beautiful in the rain. Her picture captures that.  Me thinks there must be lots of old tin mines in that part of England, Patrick has a way of sniffing them out.  As for cows, Ruby reds, or not.  I am fairly terrified of them. but this one is a charmer.

Love the signature Retalia figure and the envelope too.  Thank you Mailart Martha!
