Bris Chris (Christine Jones) sends quilted messages from down under

Two years ago at just about this time of year, Christine and her husband Vic came to Nayland Farm for a visit.   I didn't KNOW Christine but I had been corresponding with her in the post and we both were part of mailart 365,  an internet group that shared mailart we made every day for 365 days. I felt as if I knew Chris and I iked her aesthetic and resilience.  She made 'flood art' using her precious ruined photos in her quilted mail art.  So when she visited she fit right in to the Nayland Farm ways.  Vic even cooked!

Christine is a quilter extraordinaire.  I know because she sent me a fine piece of quilting-magic as a thank you for her visit. I'm delighted to see she continues to make mail art and that her quilting spills over into it!

It's the Aldeburgh Food festival in a week's time and the Macmillan coffee morning soon too.  Remember the crazy headbands we made?

Christine Jones is a textile artist who exhibits and WINS prizes for her quilts.  She and I met at mailart 365 and she sent some wonderful mail art for my islands exhibition on Cranberry Island in 2012.  Her flood art is quite special. Vic and Chris came and visited us in Suffolk and we had a jolly time!  Vic cooked delicacies from Brisbane, we visited the coast and Chris helped me make something crafty for a raffle, etc.  V and C are back in Brisbane now and I received a parcel with all this from Chris!  

Thank you, Chris!  What a generous, thoughtful and wonderful package of goodies!

UK mail art meetup beneficiary!

I missed the latest mail art meetup in London, again. Sue (Stripygoose), Mail art Martha and Bris Chris met and made postcards.  I received one of the five!   Many thanks.

Bris Chris is coming a long way for a cuppa

Perhaps it's thinking about the long journey for a cup of tea that creates the tension in this card from Chris!  Perhaps the beautiful posture of the tea lady is a result of years of teapot balancing?  I went to a 'mighty-sorry school' where they had us walk in a circle balancing a bell on our heads, for posture or to improve our gait... 
When I did my mail art 365 there were a few of us who used tea as a motif. I'm partial to earl grey, but if Chris is coming from the other side of the world just for a cuppa I will pour here anything she likes!
This is #265/365.  I just checked... Chris is on 275/365 now.  Go Chris!
