Nside Story a new mail art friend

Although Jason has collaborated on one of my TLPs (tacky little pamphlets),as he mentions below,he hasn't sent me any mail art.  I love his envelope! And the array of stuff that make of the contents are a wonderful introduction to the world of Jason Motsch's mail art! His humour, colours and the bold way he composes his imagery are a delight.

Maze music score inspires Figgy to Sing - Jude Weirtmeir

So much fun to go to the post box and find a fat folded postal book from Jude! Instantly recognisable, they have a style all their own. I never 'studied' music, was an avid club-goer and I had a radio show (when I was a student) called, 'fast forward' that was broadcast all over the bay area but I was just enthusiastic and had some smart musical friends who I paid attention to.  Jude has a sense of rhythm, humour and timing that makes me dizzy.

At the risk of sounding like one of those overly keen parents,  our kids did take music, lots of it, mostly because they wanted to and partially because Isensed I'd missed out.  So when Figgy, daughter and current Edinburgh Uni student, was home and Jude's Issue 56 Maze Music arrived, I couldn't wait to share it with her. Especially since one summer when Figgy was on a week long music course, and I can't remember the details but I know her score made it into the local papers.  So I guess what I'm trying to say is that Jude and Figgy share this language!  I put Jude's Issue 56 beside Figgy while she was in the middle of something else and it took her a little while to get to it.  But when she did she began trying to sing it, play it, percussion it, whatever you do with a graphic score. she was smiling and laughing and working very hard to interpret it seriously.

Mother and daughter agree, it's fabulous! 

Inspired Drunkpo from Vizma

A few things about this work from Vizma... 
1. Our posts crossed somewhere off the English coast.  I wrote to tell Vizma how she'd inspired me. and then I got this haul from her, my first Vizma post! 
2. I have read Vizma's poem to many, but the most significant group was the teenagers who came to celebrate New Years with us on the farm.  There were four teenagers (18) and a couple of 20 year olds.  They were all enraptured.  You see the thing was I wanted to experiment with them creating DRUNKPO. And so we began.  They wrote some good stuff and it wouldn't have flowed  without New Years beverages (drinking age in the UK is 18) and Vizma's chop chop drunkpo. They are drunkpo neophytes now. More later.
3. I love the line 'leather shrinks in wet weather' because it reminds me  of a line by a favourite band, Cake.
