1607 Kids

Toni's beautiful postcard explores childhood, all kinds of childhood, people who look like us and people who may look, at first glance, a little different. Toni hints at reaching across and reminds us that we are all human beings with shared joys and desires. As well as the menaing I can glean, it is beautiful and evocative. thank you!

Toni's artist envelope reminds me of Marie. LOVE IT ALL!

Sticker Dude's road trip to see Cascadia!

collaboration between Cascadia Artpost and Sticker Dude!

Cascadia Artpost's process

Read this… it explains the trip Sticker Dude took to visit Jack Latteman to see Cascadia!
Sticker dude lives in NYC. Jack lives in Washington.  Sticker dude went to the other side of America to see the miniature world of Cascadia with his own eyes.  I loved reading Joel's description of what he found!  Like Joel, I have see the booklets and looked intently at the buildings and figures but Joel helped me to appreciate Cascadia more to see it more fully by hearing about it through Joel. Amazing.
Sticker Dude's envelope!
The key to unlocking this envelope, for me, is 'exploring civilization' which appropriately is in the postmark. All these flawed characters with lots of power and politics and some others who have left their mark on our culture in creative ways.  They have all left their mark historically and culturally and not all in good ways!

I read somewhere about how there isn't a political movement within the arts.  Sticker Dude proves that wrong. We need you!

THANK YOU

Maze music score inspires Figgy to Sing - Jude Weirtmeir

So much fun to go to the post box and find a fat folded postal book from Jude! Instantly recognisable, they have a style all their own. I never 'studied' music, was an avid club-goer and I had a radio show (when I was a student) called, 'fast forward' that was broadcast all over the bay area but I was just enthusiastic and had some smart musical friends who I paid attention to.  Jude has a sense of rhythm, humour and timing that makes me dizzy.

At the risk of sounding like one of those overly keen parents,  our kids did take music, lots of it, mostly because they wanted to and partially because Isensed I'd missed out.  So when Figgy, daughter and current Edinburgh Uni student, was home and Jude's Issue 56 Maze Music arrived, I couldn't wait to share it with her. Especially since one summer when Figgy was on a week long music course, and I can't remember the details but I know her score made it into the local papers.  So I guess what I'm trying to say is that Jude and Figgy share this language!  I put Jude's Issue 56 beside Figgy while she was in the middle of something else and it took her a little while to get to it.  But when she did she began trying to sing it, play it, percussion it, whatever you do with a graphic score. she was smiling and laughing and working very hard to interpret it seriously.

Mother and daughter agree, it's fabulous!
