Zlatko from Macedonia
This is my first mail from Macedonia and I think it should really be filed as a memory, but for some reason I think The Postal Ledger has more of an audience than Memories are Made of This and I wouldn't want you to miss this postcard by Zlatko.
As an aside, I need to say that Patrick has spent time in Macedonia with a Zlatko - I like coincidences like that. I don't know what the translation of Zlatko is, but I like the way the name sounds and the way it looks.
What I really like about this card is the confident and fluent way Zlatko travels between collage, illustration and painting. He creates a visual memory that conjures up an icon, for me.
I also love the way Zlatko uses his stamps. He is drawing with his stamps. I love the way he uses pressure and line! Thank you Zlatko, don't worry I will certainly hang this at the next Memories pop up show!

The mail takes a long time to reach Cranberry Island... but eventually Simon's letters arrive
My mother writes that since I left, I have 'received from Simon Warren pages 29, 31,32, 33, 35 of what appears to be a journal about his life with just writing and on heavy 9x12 card stock. Each was mailed separately with stamps and amazing to think the postal people got them here in fine shape. Eileen had kept them out of the box and in a special folder with a yellow card for pick-up.' My friend the post mistress is going to wait a day or two to see if there is more and then my mum is going to put them in a package to send to me.

Birthday Mania from Katerina, featuring Viginia Woolf
Well, obviously Virginia Woolf is a favourite of mine, so am doubly pleased having received this red mail art from Kat. I wish I could read Greek, but I suspect the '25' is one of those numbers you get at the butchers (or elsewhere) when you are queueing. Brilliant! I still feel about 25 and would love to walk up town with a copy of To the Lighthouse in my pocket and have a coffee and a pastry at the Hungarian Pastry shop...
