Twas the Season

Beautiful work arrived from Mikel sometime in November/December.  I have been remiss in recording dates, but that does not diminish my enthusiasm.

I see tags, baubles, a landscape fit for the three kings, good wishes, cheer and the promise of the new year.
I love it all and feel happy to prolong my holiday season.
Thank you Mikel!

O - Mail Art - Mikel Untzi

O, Oh, I love this A6 sized mail art collage from Mikel Untzilla. I like the colour, the variety of marks, the way it works no matter which direction you turn it. It's satisfying vispo & concrete poetry for me.

Mikel reflects the stamp on the envelope in his collage, in the colour, in the movement. I always wonder which came first.
It arrived in it's inner envelope as I have scanned it above.  It is like a present...
It is a present. It feels Japanese, it is an offering. Beautiful work .  Thank you.

Thrift Store Replica

David's Thrift Store Replica has been peering at me from the top of my blogging pile for a little longer than I like… I have been otherwise obsessed with matters political and it's good to be back in the blogging saddle, even if for some (not me) it's not over yet!

In England thrift stores (charity shops) are shut.  We are in lockdown and are meant to stay home as much as we can. Even after we opened up in May, I found it difficult to cross the threshhold of charity shops for a while. This replica encapsulates my longing to return to the joy of looking through junk.

And as for glamour, that too is eclipsed in these times, for me. Recovering from a tripping-while-running injury in March, I make excuses for why it's OK to wear my running clothes all day. I am reminded of my gymnastics years and how a magenta tracksuit was all I wanted for Christmas.

I also love the chasm of stamping that makes the unique composition of this postcard and the coronavirus flower stamps. Thanks David!

Hanner Postcard swap: Christine Mann

Christine has chosen the colours of my peonies, zinnias and petunias in her postcard swap creation.  Who could help but be overjoyed (in the time of coronavirus) by these riotous hues and this ravishing beauty? I love the texture, the different kinds of text, the fact that I can't quite read her words but that I can read some and they resonate.  Many thanks for an uplifting swap!

Lost in Temptation: hobnobs, puddings and egg drops

Has Tofu visited the UK lately? Or perhaps he has been to a commonwealth country.  That's the only place that you'd find a 'Ministry of Hobnobs', a 'Pudding Museum' or a 'Hotel Eggdrop'. Let's hope the earthquake that we're all learning about hasn't affected these venerable structures! Not meaning any offence… perhaps we should all take a tea break.  Thank you Tofu.

Suus clarifies - THIS is mail art

Whenever someone tells me (unequivocally) how to think, I bristle.  Here Suus does it in such a way that I smile!  There is certainly a case that anything can be mail art… This definately is, although I have an urge to do something to it to make it into a coaster so it is used and appreciated!  Thank you Suus.
