An invitation to the Artistamp Revue

Mail artists plough their particualr furrows. I get seeds and zines from Cascadia.  The Voyageur Postal sends doodles and exotic collages. Joel sends stickers. It seems that my new correspondent, Adam Roussopoulos, makes stamp issues.  This is very exciting.

I admire his asemic DADA take on stamps.  I wonder why X and Utopia. I used to trade with AMBASSADE D'UTOPIA in France.  What is the connection?

 Does Adam know that fuchsia is just about my favourite colour?

I am sure that one morning I will wake as say, 'today is the day I will apply myself to stamps and send them to Adam. In the meantime, thank you and delighted to add you to my correspondent's list.

 

Dada Centenary - Amalgamated Confusion

Keith's mail art is always exacting, funny and original. And I am a sucker for a postage stamp so these beauties are hugely appreciated! Keith definately has an aesthetic so, not anti-art, but that suits me perfectly! Sunflower Tank is a wonderful anachronism and to this mail artist, it has a tombstone feel. Playful and poignantly pointed.

The sentiment on this connundrum is perfect for this recipient, too. I worship the sweetspot where words, musi, the visual become each other and this is the corollary, I think.

I also like amalgamated's light touch.  A non-pacifist rabbit says a lot.

Jude is playing games with DaDa at 100

Jude's tribute to DaDa arrived in the same mail bag that Aristide 3108's did.  Fittingly, Jude has used gold and included a stamp of Emmy Henning's, Hugo Ball's wife.  Jude captures the spirit of fun they must have had performing, making art and poetry in unsettled times. 

I found Jude's game confounding… I pulled on the rubber bands, trying to get the lines and words to spin, but immediately tore the holes.  I put tape over them and tried again.  I guess I'm just not enough of a kid at heart! Or I missed the point.

I like the rhythm  of DaDa or Dada. DaDa music for the opus.

Another envelope stuffed eith sticky truths from the Sticker Dude

What I love is the the seemless intersection of 'the authentic' tax levied stamp and the sticker versions of sense.  Nonsense and sense playing hide and seek on a velum envelope!  Bliss!  Dada. But wait, is that a Ray sticker too? Many thanks!

For sure the world would be a better place if we all sang our vegetables! 

Jude, you can't imagine how similar or minds must be…. Once I got a bunch of scientists at the Royal Academy to sing some potted bulbs and daffodils! But the bean notation and fused veggie notes, pure genius.
